"I can explain [it] like this: when you break up with someone you used to love and start to see them as a monster - just because it's over. But that person isn't really a monster. He's still the same person you loved once.
You are the one creating the monster. And you let yourself turn your memories into monsters and then you turn into a monster yourself. You let your pain victimize you. Performing Chavela's songs taught me not to be a monster."
